Monthly wrap-up: 2023 events and news
What's new at YPS HQ this month? Here, we share our latest news, views, and upcoming events, as well as fresh products and case studies. Grab a cuppa and get comfortable.
Packaging Innovations Show
On 15th and 16th February, we’ll be exhibiting at the Packaging Innovations Show at NEC Birmingham. This annual event brings together thousands of packaging specifiers, producers and users to meet, learn and source the latest products and services that will define the future of their packaging. We’ll be taking a horizontal bagging machine and a vertical bagging machine to demonstrate that - whatever the packaging need - we have the solution. See you there!
New to our range: 30% recycled content films
A brand-new addition to our range, BRi film is an industry first. Available from 11 - 25mu, BRi film offers the same performance benefits seen across the YPS film range with the added benefit of meeting the 30% plastic tax threshold, removing tax liability.
Its food contact approval and full compliance to OPRL recyclability guidelines presents the opportunity to wrap food products with a partially recycled and fully recyclable material. Moreover, it’s possible to reduce the film’s thickness down to 11mu, ensuring we can reduce the amount of plastic used. In some cases, this has resulted in a 24% reduction in plastic, without detriment to the finished product’s quality or performance. The best bit? All films we currently provide are available as BRi film.
That’s a wrap on Nestlé
At the end of July 2022, a novel idea for a promotional campaign was taking shape at Nestlé. The world’s largest food and beverage company was looking for our help in an ambitious challenge to create the world’s widest-ever cereal multipack using shrink film. Intrigued? So were we. Check out our case study to discover how team YPS helped bring this bonkers project to life across the global brand’s social ads, reels, and feeds.
‘Twas the season to help totes
Known for producing cute and comfortable fashion accessories including cosy socks and slippers, it’s no surprise that totes ISOTONER (UK) experiences increased demand over the festive period. To help totes meet this demand, we provided a horizontal bagging system designed with e-commerce B2C in mind. The product is detected at the in-feed while the specific customer data is detected and printed onto a paper label which is then applied to the film of the fully recyclable bags. The result was an astounding five-times increase in totes’ bagging output - boosting efficiency and productivity during a crucial retail period. Learn more.
Investing in homegrown talent: welcome Grace!
We’re delighted to say that Grace Holmes, previously our material sales coordinator, has transitioned to our out-of-office sales team. After graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in Business Management, Grace joined us in 2021 and has been a valued team member ever since. Throughout her role dealing with customers’ materials orders, this highly ambitious, dedicated young lady has demonstrated exceptional customer service and account management skills. We wish her luck in her new role!
We’re Yorkshire Prestige Award winners
For the third year in a row, we’ve received a Yorkshire Prestige Award for ‘Best Commercial Packaging’! In honour of this achievement, we were interviewed for a double-page spread in the Yorkshire Prestige Award guide. At YPS, we take great care to provide our customers with consistency in quality and industry expertise, and couldn’t be prouder that this is reflected in our award wins.
