Flexibility and consistency

Our range of semi-automatic sleeve sealers boast a number of features designed for simple operation, operator safety and strong, robust packs.

The system benefits from a specially profiled heavy-duty Teflon-coated sealing jaw, which results in very strong fin seals using polythene films for each and every pack. The jaw is also positioned with extra height clearance at the infeed, allowing for a wide variety of differently sized packs to be run. Powered film feed mechanisms guarantee speed and reliability for film threading during set-up whilst the pack clamp, which comes as standard, offers much-needed stability to precarious items without trays. For straightforward adjustments to settings on the fly, the control panel is simple and has a pre-programmable settings memory and the sealing process can be commenced with just the push of a button. An automatic run down timer and fan at the heat tunnel outfeed promotes controlled cooling for packs, allowing safe offload and interlocked guards at the sealing jaw site offer total operator protection. With a low-maintenance design and build throughout, our semi-automatic sleeve sealing systems are easy to maintain and will provide many years of trouble-free operation and high-quality shrink wrapping.

Monoblock or separate units

Our semi-automatic sleeve sealing systems are available as either separate units - sealer and tunnel - or as combined 'monoblock' machines. Both systems offer significant advantages and the choice is primarily determined by your needs.

Monoblock systems can be easily manoeuvred around your warehouse, save space and reduce the machine build costs. However, they can suffer some performance compromises as the shrink tunnel conveyor belt is situated very close to the sealing jaw. As the shrink film is sealed around the pack, the shrink tunnel belt has to stop to ensure that the heat shrink pack is stationary during this process. The packs that have previously been shrink-wrapped are inside the tunnel during the pause cycle. This means that the amount of time each pack is inside the shrink tunnel can vary, depending upon the item being shrink-wrapped through the heat sealer at the time. This leads to inconsistent results out of the tunnel, with some packs under shrunk and some potentially with burn holes in the film. To combat this, our system ensures the sleeve wrapper and tunnel are entirely independent of each other so that each pack spends exactly the same amount of time inside the shrink tunnel, ensuring consistency with the heat shrink sleeve pack.

Utilising separate units allows for a very easy and cost-effective upgrade path should your volumes or production requirements change. YPS will happily trade in any semi-automatic sleeve sealer against a faster, automatic sealer in order to increase production with minimum disruption. The shrink tunnel would not need changing.
